Student Time ManagementTip #8
Focus on the Prize Ready for the heresy? My philosophy holds that the purpose of college is not to get good grades. Ok, ok, before you start the emails, if you’re going to grad school, med school, law school, knock yourself out, make that 4.0. But before you burn this
book, or show it to your professor whose class you’re flunking and say
“See, That’s right. The PURPOSE of college isn’t to get good grades. The PURPOSE of college isn’t to have a good time, either. (Gosh, just when you and I were going to be such good friends.) My dear friend, the purpose of college is to jumpstart your professional success in this world. To get that diploma and move into a wonderful career that you would not have had if it were not for that sheepskin. Now the good grades and the great time, those ARE part of what I call “The Plan.” Because if you aren’t having fun, you’ll quit. And if your grades stink, they will kick you out. So, they are part of the plan. But keep your eye on the purpose. And the purpose is the prize at the end, that terrific career that you set yourself up to get because you had the smarts to use college well and get that diploma. ****************************************** Nine-time published author and highly sought after speaker Crystal Jonas is an expert in helping college and college-bound students make it through school with less stress and more fun.
