Student Success Tips
Tip #49 Ask the Right Question
Use the right questions to lead
you quickly to the exact answer that will help you achieve your goals.
Because, when you "Ask the right question, you get the right
answer"
Ever ask yourself any of these
questions:
“Why don’t I ever have extra money?”
“Why do I have such a tough time getting good grades in
technical classes?”
Or, “Why am I so bored with my required courses?”
Whatever you do, stop this at once!
These types of questions set you up right from the start.
How so? Your
subconscious mind accepts as absolute fact whatever you tell it.
So, for example, if you ask, “Why did I make that decision?
How can I be so stupid?” It
doesn’t say, “Just wait a minute.
You’re not stupid!”
Sadly, the subconscious does not contradict.
It returns and deepens the image your conscious mind already has
of itself, however distorted that image might be.
The bad news is, ask yourself a lousy question, and you get a
lousy answer. No
contradictions, no protests, just answers to your questions, whatever
they may be.
So, instead of asking questions that will lead to negative
answers, ask questions that will give you information you can use.
Here’s an example: “Why
do I have to take this class I hate just because it’s a
requirement?”
Ask instead: “What are all the things I can do to take this
class, have fun doing it, and make a great grade?”
By the way, read my book “College Success Your Way” and
you’ll find out 12 great ideas for passing a killer class.
Remember, ask a better question, get a better answer.
