Student Success TipsTip #2 Don’t Put Too Much Weight
on Your GPA to Measure Future Success
I wonder right now if teachers who have picked up this book are
cringing as they read this.
I used to be a teacher, too. I
was an Assistant Professor of English at the US Air Force Academy for 7
years in the 90’s and I’m here to tell you that I think it’s great
if you’re making good grades.
I’m also saying, a good GPA will only take you so far.
Now, this is either good news or bad news, depending on how you
see it.
When I give seminars and workshops to college students and to
college-bound students and their parents, I tell them my goal is to help
the students “Cash in on the College Investment.” (My program is
called, coincidentally, “Cash in on Your College Investment.”)
The goal of getting maximum ROI (have you heard that business
term before? It means
“return on investment.”) is to launch a great career upon graduation
from college.
Which means what?
To get the most return on your college investment, you A. Have
grades good enough to stay in college B. Have grades good enough to
inspire your teachers to want to help you make the right contacts in the
‘real world.’ C. You do all you can to prepare
for that job while still in school D.
All of the above
The answer? D of
course.
Success goes beyond the grades.
So make sure you’re living a balanced life with this in mind. ***************************************** For all 101 Tips on Student Success as a download you can get right now, go to Success Store While you're there, check out my other downloadable
