Convince Them
Years ago, two professors from
Overwhelmingly, the people who “convinced” others most often
were the people who lead the people they were trying to convince to
convince themselves.
Rather than trying to beat down the other person, poke holes in
their arguments, and generally try to win by “one upping” the other
person (as professional debaters try to do), the successful convincers
cultivated the good will of the other person and helped them come to the
desired outcome as though it were their own idea.
So back off, don’t bully, and lead by asking them questions
