Student LeadershipTIP
#79 Feed Their Five Needs
If you give people what they need personally, they will be at
their best professionally.
I’ve boiled this down to five basic needs. To make it easy,
they start with the five vowels.
People have a need to be appreciated.
Recognize people for whatever unique talents they offer. Their best
really is good enough.
See them as exceptional.
It’s important for people to know that they have something to offer
that not everyone does. If they can see how their contributions are
theirs alone, they will be less likely to slack off and let down the
team.
Include them in the decision making process. Ask their opinion on the best
way to get the job done.
Acknowledge that they are one
of a kind. This is especially important if they bring you a
problem. Acting as though everyone has the same problem can make them
feel as if you’re trivializing it. ***************************************** For all 101 Tips on Student Time Management as a download you can get right now, go to Success Store While you're there, check out other downloadable
